Why the Middle Matters! Grades 5-9 are a crucial developmental stage when students experience significant physical, emotional, and social changes. Middle, intermediate, and junior high schools should be designed to afford opportunities for students to explore different disciplines and ways of learning. IMLEA exists to promote, improve, and support middle level education., offering ways for educators to network, collaborate, and share resources and successes. IMLEA is an affiliate of the national organization AMLE (Association of Middle Level Educators) and the Middle Grades Forum to Accelerate Middle Grades Reform, which administers the Schools to Watch Program (STW) |
